Frustrations, that are then put into perspective.

June 21, 2010

It just isn’t that bad.  My father had a saying, that I think he attributed to his father, that was “Don’t let petty annoyances ruin your joy of living.”  Today was full of petty annoyances.  I had the dropsies, to start with.  Everything I picked up it seems, I dropped.  Didn’t break anything (beyond repair anyway) but it was frustrating.  Needless to say, the dog likes chicken salad on wheat bread.  The Bonus Room Project was another annoyance.  Started exploring around the leaky skylight, and the damage is much worse than I anticipated.  I do not think its a good thing to see daylight anywhere other than the skylight itself.  One call placed to contractor.  So it was a day of petty annoyances.  That feeling of “Dang, can anything go right?” was bubbling up.  Frustration was setting in.  But then a moment where I picked my son up from camp and he was excited about a new friend and that seemed to toss everything that was annoying right back out the window.  Things were all right.  One of the single most important pieces of my life had a sterling summer day.  Isn’t that the way it is supposed to be! Snapped me out of my ill frame of mind.

In addition to that, hearing good news about MyBridges.net, a gathering place online for community Bridge Building.  You should go participate in Compete For Your Cause.  It closes soon, but a quick $10.00 donation to the Forsyth County charity of your choice nets them $5.00 instantly, and the other $5.00 goes into a pot, and at the close of the raffle, the charity with the most dollars gets the whole kitty!  Not a bad thing.  So go to http://www.mybridges.net and make that donation.  The contest is sponsored by the Winston Salem Foundation.
