The mid summer fete for our Nation’s Birthday!  We celebrate the basic tenants of what makes our country the best on the planet, for all its flaws and foibles.  So before the cookouts, the fireworks, and hopefully not the trip to ER, lets all stop to remember how good we have it.  Some may think we have too much restriction, others not enough, but we all can think freely, and voice those opinions, and do so knowing we have the right to do so.  Yes, this drumbeat of freedom speech does get repeated, but I think sometimes we have become tuned out. So I ask that you remember it.  We are blessed to have what we do.  Let’s not ruin it.

I’ve discovered that I’m never so grateful for the freedoms I enjoy until I lived in a country that took those away from me. Thank you for the timely reminder.

I think sometimes we get so caught up in day to day life, we forget that good ol’ USA is a pretty darn fine place to live! 😀

Thank you for this, Paul! We’re coming off a month in which we lost a dear Marine friend in Afghanistan – his first deployment; a volunteer mission in the most dangerous Afghan province. He was 23 and had previously been stationed at Camp David, protecting both Presidents Bush and Obama. Yeah, he was pretty damn amazing.

I share this because there are so many who forget those who gave so much so that our nation can be so amazing herself. Thanks for the welcome reminder of what this weekend is really all about: celebrating freedom and embracing life.

Hope you have a wonderful and safe weekend!

We are all touched, it seems, by those serving in the Military. I have a best friend in the Marine Corps, and I wonder daily if he is getting called up (MC Reserves now).

Once again, a blessing we have that ours is a volunteer military. They will forever be heroes of mine.
